Leaves of Remembrance

I was already rolling with WHEEL homeless women’s organizing effort when, in 2000, we began standing Women in Black vigils whenever a homeless person died outside or by violence in King County. In 2003, we started working for a more permanent memorial. In 2011, we laid the first bronze Leaves of Remembrance and in 2012 we raised the Tree of Life sculpture in Victor Steinbrueck Park.

Tomorrow we will dedicate four new Leaves of Remembrance, at Seattle Mennonite Church. This brings our total to 226 Leaves of Remembrance in 13 locations.

Remembering:

I hope my local friends can join us. <3
